5 Ways Autodesk is Proving Their Long-Term Commitment to HSMWorks for SolidWorks

1) HSMXpress for SolidWorks – Just Got Better

Autodesk has removed the firewall between HSMWorks and HSMXpress. The files are now 100% compatible which means you can move files between HSMWorks and HSMXpress seamlessly.  You can even open, review and verify HSMWorks files in HSMXpress!

2) Distributed CAM – Free to all HSMWorks for SolidWorks users!

Distributed CAM lets you distribute toolpath calculations across a local area network. By borrowing unused CPU power in your company or office we dramatically reduce CNC programming time for complex jobs. This is a great way to get the most from your computer hardware and gain a competitive advantage in your business! Autodesk has made distributed CAM free to all HSMWorks users.

To start using distributed CAM simply install the DCS client on a PC in your local area network you want to offload calculation too.

3) HSMWorks – Continuous Development Updates

We just returned from a meeting with the development team in Copenhagen. Thanks to Autodesk, this team has nearly tripled in size since last October. The new team members are now fully settled, highly motivated and producing results. You may have noticed a huge uptick in the frequency of new releases of HSMWorks for SolidWorks, which you can review here: http://www.hsmworks.com/download/experimental

4) HSMWorks OEM Users – Solution

SolidWorks and Autodesk have solidified a pathway forward for customers with HSMWorks OEM (Standalone) version. Please read more here:

5) Autodesk – “Open CAD” is Better

Autodesk believes in an Open-CAD world – a world where Autodesk tools work across multiple CAD platforms.  HSMWorks is just the latest manifestation of this vision which has been working for years.

For example, Autodesk owns Mold Flow. 90% of Mold Flow users do their CAD work in competitive CAD products including SolidWorks, Catia and PTC.  PLM 360, another Autodesk product, has almost 50% SolidWorks users.

The Future of CAM is here

Having been with HSMWorks from the beginning, this is a very exciting time for us. Software development is always a matter of vision and resources. Though we believe we always had the right vision for “The Next Generation of CAM”, Autodesk has brought us the resources to accelerate that vision beyond our wildest dreams. What could be more fun?  The future of CAM is here.  Enjoy the ride!

Best regards,
